Matt Brown's Political Future (posted April 17, 2003)

Secretary of State Matt Brown appears to be plotting his next political move. The ambitious, new statewide office-holder has been considering his future options. According to the Washington, D.C. publication Roll Call, the secretary of state already has consulted national party leaders. In a story about possible 2006 challengers to U.S. Senator Lincoln Chafee, that newspaper reported on April 7, 2003 "Brown has already visited Washington, D.C., to talk to party leaders about his political future." While the article did not specify what office Brown was interested in and what he was told, it is interesting that three months into his first term, Brown is thinking about his next move. Could there be a U.S. Senate run in his future? Only time will tell!
