E-Government Data Order
Darrell M. West

Due to the number of requests for raw e-government data on individual city, state, federal, and foreign government agency websites, we are making available for a fee the raw data on individual agencies collected as part of our 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008 e-government reports (see www.InsidePolitics.org). For each agency website, we will send a SPSS or Excel data file containing the specific analysis that was conducted each year for that agency.

The SPSS/Excel data file will include how well each agency website performed on the e-government indicators used in our study, such as whether the site has publications, databases, online services, privacy statements, security statements, disability access, non-native language access, ads, premium fees, user fees, credit card transactions, digital signatures, contact information, electronic updates, personalization, PDA access, comment forms, and readability, among others. Click here for an example of an Excel data file containing the raw e-government data for an individual agency website for several years.

We have collected e-government data for the following city, state, federal, and foreign government agencies:

1) 70 largest American cities for 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004

2) 50 American states for 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008

3) 60 United States federal agencies for 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008

4) 198 nations around the world for 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008

The cost for each agency website analysis varies with the total number of agencies ordered. As shown below, the more agencies ordered, the lower the per agency cost. Requests for the raw e-government data for single agencies is $100 per agency per year of data. Orders of 31 different agency websites or more costs $65 per agency per year of data (a 35 percent discount).

As an example, if someone wanted to order the e-government analyses for one agency, it would cost $100 for each year of data and $400 for four years of data. Alternatively, if someone wanted 31 different agencies in a particular city or state for one year, it would cost $2,015 ($65 * 31 agencies).
